A 28-year-old man fatally stabbed a 47-year-old woman, believed to have been his partner, outside the entrance of her apartment building in Chalandri. According to the police, the suspect and the victim weren’t in a relationship. [1], [2]
The suspect was arrested at the scene after a neighbor, who witnessed the killing, alerted police. Officers found two knives in his possession.
“I heard voices and thought someone was arguing. I went out to the balcony and heard a woman screaming, and then I saw a man stabbing her frantically. She was our neighbor, we often saw her in the area. He killed her right outside her building,” a local resident told Kathimerini.
The suspect reportedly told officers he killed her in retaliation because she was “poisoning his friends against him.”
The victim had filed a complaint against the perpetrator at the Chalandri police station on March 19, reporting that he was stalking her and requesting police protection. Officers, however, reportedly issued only a warning to the man.
The suspect claimed the two had met at a community soup kitchen, as both were struggling financially. He further told police that the victim had allegedly “turned his friends against him,” leading to his isolation and even being blocked on social media. According to investigators, he said he sought revenge and attacked her in front of her home.
