The rate of tax evasion among the audits of the AADE rose to 29.7% in 2025 compared with 2024 when it was 27.1%, although the partial on-site audits in 2025 (47,602) were fewer than in 2024 (56,654).
The number of audits with detection of violation amounted to 11,146, while the total number of detected violations reached 178,718.
Overall, taxes and fines amounting to €3.1 billion were assessed and 680 professional establishments were suspended.
The Region of Western Greece had the highest rate of offending activity (39.9%) in 3,246 audits.
Vehicle repair shops had the highest rate with 61%, followed by land transport and transport via pipelines with 58.1% and rental and leasing activities with 56.2%.
They were followed by: human health activities 54%, other personal service provision activities 50.3%, crop and animal production, hunting and related activities 40.8%, wholesale trade 33.9%, food service activities 32.4%, accommodation 31.6%, retail trade 29.3%, food industry 28.8% and other general sectors 19.1%.
The Region of Western Greece had the highest rate of offending activity (39.9%) in 3,246 audits. They are followed by the Region of Peloponnese which had a violation rate of 39.6% in 3,680 and the Region of Thessaly with the offending rate that was detected amounting to 38.2% in a total of 2,976 audits. The lowest offending rate (24.9%) was detected in the Region of Western Macedonia, in 1,339 audits.
