The Supreme Court does not retrieve the wiretapping case from the archive and thus the case will not be examined further, as the Prosecutor, Konstantinos Tzavelas, judged that no newer facts arose from the trial and the judicial decision.

The decision comes in contrast to the convicting ruling of the Court for 4 individuals (Lavranos, Bitzios, Chamou, Dilian), which had requested that further investigation be carried out for possible involvement of other persons beyond those convicted and the possible commission of the offence of espionage. It had also requested that it be examined whether there was illegal trafficking of surveillance software after 9 December 2022.

Tal Dilian, founder of Intellexa (Predator) in Greece, after the guilty verdict said that “his clients are governments and security authorities.”

The Court had imposed on each defendant a prison sentence of 126 years and 8 months after merger, with 8 years to be served. They were found guilty of illegal surveillance, violation of communication secrecy and illegal access to data systems, against 87 injured parties.

After the decision, in fact, one of those convicted, Tal Dilian, founder of Intellexa that brought the Predator software to Greece, had said in an interview that “his clients are governments and security authorities.”

From now on, the only thing that remains open is the trial of the 4 at second instance and any lawsuits that may be filed by victims.
