England and Spain have advanced to the final of Euro 2024, which will be held in Germany. They will compete for the trophy at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium on Sunday at 22:00 Greek time.
England secured their spot by defeating the Netherlands 2-1 yesterday (10/7). They overcame an early 1-0 deficit thanks to Xavi Simmons’ impressive long-range goal in the 7th minute. Harry Kane equalized with a penalty in the 18th minute, and Ollie Watkins clinched the victory for England with a goal in the 90th minute.
England and Spain are not meeting for the first time in a final; last year, Spain defeated England 1-0 in the Women’s World Cup final in front of 75,000 people.
Spain also achieved a comeback victory. Despite France taking an early lead with a goal by Kolo Muani in the 9th minute, they couldn’t hold onto it. Spanish players Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo scored in the 21st and 25th minutes, respectively, sealing a 2-1 win for Spain.
“England hasn’t been convincing so far, but according to the London Migration Museum’s advertising campaign, without players born outside the UK or with at least one parent or grandparent born abroad, we wouldn’t still be here.” They even provided a lineup without these players, where only Pickford, Foden, and Stones remain their starters.
Spain also includes players of non-Spanish descent in its ranks, notably two of its key players: Lamine Yamal from Equatorial Guinea and Nico Williams from Ghana.
