According to initial media [1], [2] reports ahead of the official Joint Ministerial Decision, this year’s heating allowance is expected to increase by 20%, reaching a total of €1,000. As a result, recipients will receive €200 more than last year.

Over 1.3 million households are expected to benefit from the allowance, which will total €260 million and be paid in two installments. The first installment, covering 60% of the total, will be issued in December, with the second following in spring. The allowance amount for each recipient will be determined based on cold weather data from the previous winter, with higher allowances available to those opting for electric heating.

Those who choose electric heating are expected to receive a higher heating allowance.

The income and asset criteria remain unchanged from last year.

Specifically:

  1. The total annual family income, regardless of source (actual or imputed), must not exceed €16,000 for a single individual, widow(er), or separated person, and €24,000 for a married person or someone in a civil partnership filing a separate tax return. For each dependent child, the income limit increases by €5,000, while for a single-parent family, the annual income must not exceed €29,000, with an additional €5,000 for each child. For those engaged in business, total gross income must not exceed €80,000.
  2. Additionally, the total value of real estate must not exceed €200,000 for a single individual, widow(er), or separated person, or €300,000 for a married person or single-parent family.

The “myThermancy” (MyHeating) platform, expected to open in November by the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), will allow applicants to register for the Heating Allowance Beneficiary Registry.
