The Independent Authority Against Corruption announced that it has received the final report on the investigation into the book by Makarios Drousiotis, “Mafia State,” a work that sparked intense public debate due to the serious allegations it contains.

According to the Authority, the report was submitted on time on April 30, 2026, and is the result of an extensive process that included 214 sessions, testimony from 150 individuals, and the collection of 793 pieces of evidence from 41 organizations and state agencies. The total material exceeds 3,000 pages.

Despite the significance of the findings, the Authority clarifies that it is not yet in a position to comment on the content of the report, as a thorough review and evaluation through the prescribed institutional procedures is first required.

The final announcement is expected before the end of June 2026 and, as emphasized, is not linked to the parliamentary elections of May 24.

For this purpose, a special Working Group has already been established, while all proceedings are being conducted under conditions of full confidentiality. The final announcement is expected before the end of June 2026 and, as emphasized, is not linked to the parliamentary elections of May 24.

The book portrays the administration of Nicos Anastasiades as a systemic network of corruption, alleging that political power functioned as a “gang” serving oligarchs and Russian interests. The allegations include, among other things, money laundering, illegal surveillance, and a judicial corruption network, involving judges and politicians in acts of corruption and other offenses.

The Authority rejects requests for the premature publication of findings before the completion of the process, describing them as irresponsible. Finally, it is clarified that no member will make further statements until the official release of the final announcement.
