The 46-year-old woman accused in connection with the Marfin case is appearing before the investigating authorities today to give her testimony. Through her lawyer, Kostas Papadakis, she denies that she has been identified as having taken part in the attack and maintains that the available evidence does not establish with certainty that she was near the bank at the time of the incident.
The 46-year-old returned to Greece from the United Kingdom a few days ago as part of extradition proceedings by the British authorities. She had previously expressed her intention to return to the country in order to testify, maintaining her innocence.
Two 42-year-old men have already been remanded in custody in connection with the same case, with one alleged to have acted as a coordinator and the other accused of smashing the bank’s window.
Once her testimony has been completed, the investigating magistrate and prosecutor will decide on the next steps in the criminal proceedings against her, and specifically whether she will be released, with or without restrictive conditions, or remanded in pre-trial detention.
