Joe Biden reiterated yesterday during a meeting with 24 Democratic governors that he will remain the Democratic candidate for the presidency. In an email from his presidential campaign, he wrote: “No one is pushing me out. I’m not leaving. I’m in this race until the end.”
According to Politico, when asked about his health during the meeting, the US President assured that he had medical exams and remains in good health.
Only three out of the 24 governors (New York, Minnesota, and Maryland) publicly declared their support for Biden after the meeting, while one-third of Democratic voters want him to withdraw from the race, according to Reuters.
The next debate between the two candidates is scheduled for 09/10 on ABC News.
Concerns about Biden’s age and suitability as a candidate skyrocketed after Thursday’s debate, during much of which the president mumbled and lost his train of thought. He said he was tired after two trips abroad, while the White House said he had a cold.
The Editorial Board of the New York Times, a group of 400 senior business leaders, and Reed Hastings, a major Democratic Party donor and co-founder of Netflix, are among those who have publicly called for Biden to withdraw from the presidential race.
