Since this morning, the Sub-Directorate for Combating Violence in Sports Venues has been conducting a significant operation to apprehend those responsible for the fatal attack involving a naval flare against the 31-year-old riot police officer on December 7, 2023, in Rentis.
According to the Hellenic Police, multiple arrests have been made thus far, and numerous searches have been conducted in residences and vehicles. Various pieces of evidence, including clothing, have been seized during these searches.
The police officer passed away on December 27 after spending 20 days in hospital, having sustained injuries from a naval flare during the incidents.
According to available information, [1], [2], [3], 57 Olympiacos fans have been arrested thus far, while 158 individuals are included in the case file. These arrests pertain to involvement in the police officer’s case and participation in various fan-related incidents, including three specific instances of altercations, all during Olympiacos matches.
The primary charge outlined in the case file that will be presented tomorrow is for the establishment of a criminal organization. Additionally, charges of moral complicity in the fatal injury of the police officer are also anticipated.
