Eight victims filed a lawsuit over the Predator wiretapping scandal against the company Intellexa and 13 individuals associated with it, seeking total compensation of €7.6 million.
Among them are journalist Thanasis Koukakis, Artemis Seaford, who has worked in cybersecurity and social media user safety since 2020, Hellenic Police officer Penelope Miniati, Antonia Priba, an associate of Member of the European Parliament Stelios Kympouropoulos, National Intelligence Service (EYP) employees Angeliki Roussou and Zoe Maria Sakkali, lawyer Ioannis Fytilis, and journalist Spyros Sideris, who had not been involved in the criminal proceedings.
Former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras also filed a request with the Supreme Court Prosecutor’s Office, seeking a full investigation into the infection of his phone with the Predator spyware.
The phone of PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis, as well as the phones of government officials, among others, had been infected with Predator.
“I have raised this issue clearly and institutionally from the floor of the Hellenic Parliament, as well as through the public debate, insisting that it is a major issue that cannot remain in the dark or in silence and cannot become the subject of manipulation or a cover-up,” the former prime minister said.
Antonis Samaras is the first political figure to seek judicial action following the appellate ruling of the Single-Member Misdemeanor Court of Athens ordering further investigation into the case, and after the Supreme Court’s decision to close the investigation.
