The commander and five other police officers of the Agioi Anargyroi Police Department, where the femicide of Kyriaki Griva occurred, have been dismissed from their positions.
In more detail, the commander, the call center police officer who spoke with the victim in the published audio, the duty officer, the supervisor, the supervisor’s driver (both present during the conversation), and the Police Station’s guard were all terminated.
In the audio, the woman can be heard requesting a patrol car to accompany her home, to which the policeman responds, “Ma’am, the patrol car is not a taxi.” Seconds later, she was fatally attacked.
The police officer from the call center is currently under investigation by the Hellenic Police and faces criminal and administrative charges.
A report by “Kathimerini” presents the testimony of the duty officer, revealing that when the 28-year-old sought help at the office, the officer did not inquire about her details or name. It was only discovered after the woman had tragically passed away.
The Hellenic Police is urging an immediate prosecutorial investigation into the responsibilities surrounding the femicide. “Did someone take responsibility? Did anyone even consider resigning, stepping down from their position, and apologizing? To take responsibility? It’s a shame!” At the same time, they are calling for an investigation into who is responsible for the call center operating with only one-third of the planned police force.
