Yesterday, firefighters battled three separate fires in Lavrio, Boeotia and Salamina, but none had an active front as of this morning.
In Lavrio, the fire broke out in low vegetation in Kalopigado, near an area with scattered homes. A 112 evacuation alert was sent to residents of Agia Marina and Tsonima.
A total of 70 firefighters, 23 vehicles, four helicopters and five aircraft were deployed. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and the East Attica Arson Crimes Investigation Unit is investigating.
The fire in Salamina was the third to break out within 10 days, while explosions could be heard yesterday as a large amount of waste burned.
A 112 alert was also issued in Boeotia, where the fire was burning near homes. The alert was sent to residents and others in the Tsoukalades area. A total of 92 firefighters were deployed.
In Salamina, the fire was also burning near homes, prompting a 112 evacuation alert for Ano Vasilika and Bizani. It was the third fire on the island within 10 days, while explosions could be heard as a large amount of waste burned.
