Five key relief measures were approved on Wednesday for those impacted by the wildfires that struck in June, July, and August across the regions of Attica, North Aegean, Western Greece, Epirus, Crete, the Ionian Islands, and Central Greece.
Support includes housing assistance for individuals and businesses to repair or rebuild damaged properties. Rent or cohabitation subsidies of up to €500 will also be provided for displaced permanent residents.
Households will receive €600 to cover essential needs, with additional support for large families and persons with disabilities. Up to €6,000 is available for damaged home contents in primary residences, while secondary homes qualify for 50%.
Victims who suffered over 67% disability due to wildfire injuries will receive €4,500.
A 70% subsidy for verified damages—capped at €500,000 per beneficiary (or per branch, up to two)—will be granted without tiered reductions. Agricultural aid will be activated upon request by the Ministry of Rural Development, per Law 4797/2021 and EU regulations.
Affected areas declared in a state of emergency will benefit from a three-year ENFIA exemption. Local governments will also be eligible for emergency funding to repair infrastructure and cover urgent community needs.
