In 2025, the value of Greek yogurt exports reached €559.01 million, up 42.49% from €392.31 million in 2024. Export volumes also increased, from 169,630 tonnes in 2024 to 240,490 tonnes in 2025.
Beyond Europe and the Americas, Greek yogurt is also expanding into Asia, with China and Japan as the main markets. In China, according to Kathimerini, yogurt is seen as part of a Western lifestyle adopted by middle- and high-income consumers. In Japan, its growth is linked to strong demand for healthy foods.
The UK is no longer the main market for Greek yogurt. Italy now accounts for 38.26% of export volume and 39.67% of export value.
Another factor behind strong demand for yogurt in Europe and Japan is the high proportion of older people, who traditionally consume yogurt.
Greek yogurt exports are also approaching feta exports in value. In 2025, feta exports reached 105,490 tonnes, worth €873.15 million. Feta exports grew by 11.10%, considerably less than yogurt exports.
The global market for Greek and Greek-style yogurt is worth $38.29 billion, while the Greek yogurt market is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 8.33% between 2026 and 2034.
