The Mixed Jury Court of Edessa sentenced each of the two defendants to life imprisonment plus an additional 15 years for the femicide of a 41-year-old pregnant woman, whose body was found last January in a trunk in an area near the border of Thessaloniki and Halkidiki.

Following the prosecutor’s recommendation, the court unanimously convicted the 39-year-old partner of the victim and his 34-year-old friend on all charges.

They were found guilty of intentional homicide, termination of pregnancy, robbery, illegal possession of weapons, and use of weapons (the first three were classified as felonies) without any mitigating circumstances.

In their testimonies, the two men denied responsibility, each blaming the other as the perpetrator of the femicide.

The femicide occurred on New Year’s Day 2024 in the apartment of the 39-year-old in Kalamaria, with the victim’s body discovered a week later inside a trunk, based on information provided by the 34-year-old.

In their statements, the two convicted men denied responsibility, each accusing the other of committing the femicide. “I took my medication and went to sleep […] When I woke up the next day, Georgia was gone,” claimed the 39-year-old partner of the victim.

The co-defendant stated that he agreed to participate in a “staged” robbery due to financial need but denied intending to harm the woman.
