The 46-year-old woman accused in connection with the 2010 arson attack on the Marfin bank branch appeared before the investigating judge handling the case and was given until Tuesday, 11 August, to testify.
She is expected to return to Athens Police Headquarters, where she will remain in custody until her testimony.
The woman was transferred from London to Athens last night. She appeared before an extradition prosecutor at the Court of Appeal this morning for the execution of an international arrest warrant issued against her, before being taken to the investigating judge’s office at the Evelpidon court complex.
She is accused of playing a supporting role in the deaths of three bank employees who were trapped inside the burning building following the arson attack.
The 46-year-old had previously expressed through her lawyer her intention to return to Greece. She had also contacted homicide officers, telling them she would return to testify and maintaining that she is innocent.
According to the Hellenic Police, AI was used to identify characteristics including height, build, hair and ears, as well as clothing, footwear and accessories such as a backpack.
The woman was arrested on 13 July at London’s Gatwick Airport as she was preparing to board a flight to Athens, after a Red Notice had been issued for her.
The 46-year-old had been living in Brighton for the past six years, where she has a family and two children.
According to the police investigation, she is linked to the fatal Marfin arson attack through video footage that allegedly shows her with her face covered and playing a supporting role.
Two 42-year-old men have already been remanded in custody in connection with the case. One is accused of acting as a coordinator, while the other allegedly broke the bank’s glass frontage to facilitate the arson attack.
