Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed during a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump yesterday to halt attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure for 30 days, a decision also accepted by Ukraine for corresponding Russian targets.

However, the Russian president did not agree to a broader, 30-day ceasefire that the United States and Ukraine had called for.

Putin clarified that the “main condition” for ending the war is the cessation of military aid and intelligence cooperation between the West and Ukraine.
