Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary announced that the airline plans to increase the €1.50 bonus currently given to staff who identify passengers carrying baggage that exceeds the permitted size. He noted that 99.9% of passengers comply with the baggage rules.

Currently, the airline allows one small cabin bag of up to 10kg per ticket, measuring no more than 40cm x 20cm x 25cm. This limit will be increased by 20% in the coming weeks to 40cm x 30cm x 20cm, in line with new EU guidelines.

O’Leary also reported a post-tax profit of €820 million—up from €360 million last year—largely driven by higher ticket fares.

The EU has worked with airlines to set a minimum standard size for free carry-on baggage, allowing frequent flyers to purchase luggage that is guaranteed to meet the requirements of most carriers.

Passengers may face fines of up to €85 for exceeding the baggage limits, depending on the route and travel date.O’Leary also reported a post-tax profit of €820 million—up from €360 million last year—largely driven by higher ticket fares.
