In Georgia, USA, early voting for the presidential election is underway, with at least 252,000 people—a record number—having cast their ballots by Tuesday afternoon, either in person or by mail, according to Gabriel Sterling, chief operating officer for the Georgia Secretary of State’s office.

Georgia is one of seven swing states this year, where the outcome remains uncertain for both parties. The state offers 16 electoral votes to the winning candidate.

Both Democrats and Republicans have been encouraging citizens in recent weeks to vote early, as former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris aim to secure Georgia’s 16 electoral votes.

Early voting in the USA is introduced to prevent long delays on Election Day (November 5th).

Trump visited Atlanta, the capital of Georgia, on Tuesday evening, while former President Bill Clinton urged Harris supporters in Georgia on Sunday and Monday to vote early. Harris is expected to visit Atlanta this weekend.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk has donated $75 million to his organization supporting Donald Trump, which focuses on attracting voters in swing states. With this donation, Musk is now one of the Republican Party’s largest financial backers.
