Aegean transported military equipment (mainly cables) on its Athens-Israel passenger flights, declared as “general cargo,” according to an investigation by Reporters United in collaboration with the Irish media outlet The Ditch.
Between 2021–2024, 12 such shipments were transported (with the sender being the defense company AKMON and the recipient the Israeli company Elbit), while 6 were sent after The Hague issued its opinion on the genocide in Gaza in 2024.
The Greek government did not respond to journalists’ questions, although the company confirmed the shipments.

Previous reports by the same outlet show that Greece functions as a transport hub for military shipments, with foreign countries as origin and the Israeli defense industry as the final recipient.
