A 39-year-old Greek passenger on a helicopter operated by an Austrian company, which landed illegally on a crowded beach in Spetses on 22 August at around 15:00, was released on a prosecutor’s order. Around six grams of narcotics were found in his possession.

The helicopter landed outside a designated helipad, kicking up a large amount of dust and causing fear and disruption on the beach.

On board were the German pilot, the Austrian co-pilot, who were also released, the 39-year-old man and a woman who is being sought by authorities to give a statement.

On 7 August, a private helicopter landed on Sarakiniko beach in Milos, prompting widespread reactions and an urgent prosecutorial investigation.

According to police, the 39-year-old and the woman left the helicopter after it landed. The man appears to have tried to dispose of a bag containing the drugs, but his ID was also inside, allowing police to locate him later that afternoon.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the landing, while the Piraeus Prosecutor’s Office has intervened to determine whether any further violations were committed.

It is the second such helicopter incident in a matter of weeks. On 7 August, a private helicopter landed on Sarakiniko beach in Milos, prompting widespread reactions and an urgent investigation by the Aegean Court of Appeal Prosecutor.
